Forest D. Suggs, Jr. (Nov. 29, 1928 - Oct. 24, 2014)

Forest DeWitt Suggs, Jr. departed this good earth on Friday, October 24, 2014 to join his maker.  He did so in the company of his beloved family, with a smile on his lips and a prayer in his heart.

Born in Anderson on November 29, 1928, he was an Eagle Scout, a 1946 graduate of Boy's High School, and a 1950 graduate of Clemson A&M {now Clemson University}, for which he held great passion until his final breath.

Forest loved his country, and served in The United States Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He joined his father-in-law's accounting firm in 1961, and made it a personal passion to care for people and their finances; they in turn grew to love and care for him every bit as much.

Community was important to Forest, who was a past President of the Greer Kiwanis Club, of the Anderson Rotary Club, and a Paul Harris Fellow.  He served as Chairman of the Board of The South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and chaired the Board of Trustees of Anderson Memorial Hospital.  He was a Trustee of the Board of School District #5, and was instrumental in the formation of the United Way Fund benefiting the Anderson community he so dearly loved.

Forest served as a member of the Board of Visitors for both Presbyterian College and Anderson University.  A spiritual man, he was a devout Presbyterian and member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, where he served as a Deacon and Elder.

Most importantly, Forest was a good man, a cherished father and husband, a concerned citizen, a mentor, and a friend to many.  And by being so, he has left all who knew him with his own special gift -- a smile on our lips, and a prayer in our hearts.

He will be missed.  Better yet, he will be fondly remembered.
